In investing, alpha is the return above the market, and in private markets it comes from seeing the right company before anyone else does. We built Raylu’s positioning around it. In a category crowded with AI copilots, Raylu does not present itself as one more agent but as a system for generating alpha: it maps the market around a fund’s thesis, scores companies, watches for deal signals, drafts founder outreach in the firm’s own voice and flags the risks in a deal early.
The people who buy it manage other people’s capital, so the brand reads as premium and old money: calm, exact and serious about reliability and security. Raylu is SOC 2 Type II certified, keeps each firm’s data private and never trains models on it. At the same time it is an AI product, and everything around it feels current and flexible. Lines such as “See what others don’t” and “Find red flags early” carry the idea, and partial unblurring, a photo or a line of type coming into focus, runs through the identity as its visual form.
The name reads like ReLU, the rectified linear unit: the activation function inside most modern neural networks, which passes the useful signal and sets the rest to zero. It is also easy to remember, and “ray” became the root of the identity. The brand is built on a beam of light and the optics that focus it, the clearest lens on a private market. Rotating glass lenses and refracted light recur from the website to the product imagery.
The sign, a set of parallel diagonal strokes and points, recalls a stingray gliding over the seabed, constantly scanning the bottom for new opportunities. Deep and pale greens with warm greys and ivory, PP Neue Montreal paired with the italics of PP Eiko, icons on a 32 × 32 grid and a restrained photographic style give the system the composure of an established financial house.
Digital design covered the website design and the look and feel of the product interfaces. The homepage opens on lenses turning in the light behind the line “Origination, Redefined”, and the alpha story continues through news, case studies and security. In the product, a thesis typed into a single search field becomes a market map, scored companies and outreach drafts, with the same typography, glass surfaces and green signals as the marketing.
Its clients include Sopris Capital, a global mid-market private equity firm and a multi-stage venture fund in San Francisco.
We built one system across positioning, identity, website and product. It lets Raylu sell to venture and private equity funds as an established financial house, not one more AI agent.
